Summer
Went for a drive around the coast with my Mum yesterday. Started at Minnis bay by the time we got to Westgate we decided to walk along the front for half an hour and have an ice cream (I'd like a '99' - do you want a flake with that!). Margate was just as busy as Mum remembered from her youth but no chance of parking anywhere. Thought of having a quick one at the Captain Digby but decided to wait until Joss Bay, but that was as busy as I remember from my youth and no chance of parking there either.
By the time we were approaching Broadstairs, I remembered Folk week, and decided a full detour was in order to get home and have a cup of tea.
We did try to watch the Perseids late last night but only managed to see one out of the corner of the eye - never seem to be looking in the right place - will have to try again tonight

Hi, What is Perseids? I am glad you had a good day. You needed my disable parking ticket to help you park in those busy places.
We went out at midnight last night (Sunday) for a look at the Perseids (an annual meteor shower, from dust in the tail of the Swift-Tuttle comet hitting the atmosphere, if you're wondering). Meant to be 100 an hour, we saw 3-4 each over about 25 minutes - and never the same one at the same time - how do they always just manage to be at the corner of your vision?!?
And then we decided it was a bit cold and breezy for the amount we were seeing, so we gave up. Patrick Moore wouldn't have been too impressed, but it was a thrill when we did see them... And it was a clear enough night to be impressed with the stars we could see (and just how many aircraft are there up there at any one time?).
hi -
I am techno chicks friend (!) - and she has directed me to your blog - my sunflowers and tomatoes also not good this year. Hope your Mum enjoys her visit.
Regards Karen
