40 years ago

Sometimes just looking up a little item in Google can bring up frightening results. To find out that it was 40 years ago that I went to the best gig I have ever been to in my life. It was at Fairfield Hall Croydon, is now known as the Stax tour and included among others Sam and Dave, Otis Redding, Otis Rush, Wilson Picket and Arthur Conley and I really wish that I could remember who else. It was a real stand in the aisles and dance night unlike Rolling Stones etc which had been scream nights. In more recent years I have stooped to concerts and operas ( much easier on the ears) but last year my sister conned me into going to a David Essex concert and I couldn't believe that it was a sell out with screaming middle aged women (I tried to hide under my seat but she dragged me out again). Unfortunately Otis Redding died a few months after the tour but at least I saw him and the others at their best.
