Dreamland

Another conversation on my trip was started by the 'what is Thanet for' question.
Ramsgate was about boats, yacht club, ferries and a harbourside nightlife.
Broadstairs was the old fashioned gentle seaside with folk week etc.
Margate was much more difficult but it always came back to Dreamland, without it Margate is nothing much else.

Wheelie bins

I know that there seems to be a lot of controversy over wheelie bins in Thanet, so as I have been on a long drive around various parts (relative visiting) of England and Wales in the last week I thought that I would take a survey. When I moved to Thanet 20 years ago I came from an area that had wheelie bins, though not recycling at that time, and really missed it. Everywhere I went (West Country, Wales, Midlands) had wheelie bins and alternate waste/recycling weeks. Nobody complained, they had got used to it, nobody had the feared vermin in the main waste bin and everybody felt good/righteous about the recycling. All I can say is wheel in the bins - and soon.
